Murray, Coppin State defeat Bethune-Cookman 69-61
BALTIMORE (AP) Michael Murray had 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists as Coppin State held off Bethune-Cookman 69-61 Thursday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Eagles (8-23, 5-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) have won three of their last four after a seven-game skid.
Trailing 63-53, the Wildcats stormed back with Kevin Dukes hitting consecutive 3-pointers in a 23-second span to trim the deficit to four with 1:05 remaining. Coppin State made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 35 seconds to seal it.
Dukes led Bethune-Cookman (12-19, 7-9) with 18 points, hitting 4 of 12 from deep to win the MEAC 3-point title, while teammate Adrien Coleman, with 15 points, won the league scoring title. Javoris Bryant contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
