GRAMBLING, La. (AP) Dallas Polk-Hilliard scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and Grambling beat NAIA member Jarvis Christian 105-68 on Friday night.
In its season opener, Grambling raced out to a 7-1 advantage after a dunk by DeVante Jackson with 17:27 left in the first half. After a bucket by Christian 14 seconds later, the Tigers used a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 16-3 lead after a layup by Prince Moss. Grambling led 45-24 at the break after shooting 17 of 33 from the floor. The Tigers finished shooting 58.3 percent.
Polk-Hilliard was 8-of-13 shooting and Lasani Johnson came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and had five rebounds. Ivy Smith, Jr. and Anthony Gaston each added 11 points.
