Brenton, Stony Brook down Boston U 71-55

BOSTON (AP) Tommy Brenton had a double-double as Stony Brook secured outright possession of the America East Conference regular-season crown, defeating Boston University 71-55 Thursday night.

After Boston (17-12, 11-5) took a 2-0 lead, Stony Brook (22-6, 13-2) embarked on a 33-3 run capped by Brenton's two free throws with 4:56 left until halftime and never looked back.

Brenton finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
