Hickson's 3 TD runs lead Liberty past Idaho State 48-41
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) Frankie Hickson had 22 carries for 133 yards and three touchdowns and Liberty outpaced Idaho State 48-41 on Saturday.
Ty Flanagan's 51-yard TD run with 2:37 left in the third brought Idaho State within 34-31 before Peytton Pickett's 2-yard run capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive to extend the lead to 10. The Bengals narrowed the deficit to 41-34 with a 27-yard field goal by Campbell Sheidow with 97 seconds to play. But after Liberty recovered the onside kick, Hickson, on the next play, ran for a 47-yard score to make it 48-34.
Tanner Gueller threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns for Idaho State (4-3). Michael Dean had six catches for 210 yards and a score, Mitch Gueller added nine receptions for 125 yards and two scores and Flanagan had 12 carries for 136 yards.
