Bearkats edge Cal Poly to advance 18-16

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Tim Flanders rushed for 101 yards and Vincent Dotson blocked a punt to help led Sam Houston State to an 18-16 win over Cal Poly in the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs on Saturday.

Sam Houston State (9-3) will play Montana State (11-1) next week in the quarterfinals. The game will be played in Bozeman, Mont. Montana State beat Stony Brook 16-10 on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Bearkats were outgained 387-241 but they forced three turnovers.
