Davis confirmed his decision during an appearance on NFL Network on Friday. Analysis: While the Panthers didn't make an official announcement, the team posted a picture of Davis on its Twitter page with the word "Respect." Davis said he made his decision when the team signed him to a contract extension through 2018. He said he had been seeking an extension through 2019. Analysis: The deal for Davis, a first-round draft pick of the Panthers in 2006, runs through the 2018 season. The Charlotte Observer, citing a source, said the one-year is worth $6.75 million, with $3 million of it guaranteed over the next two seasons. Davis, 34, registered a team-high 132 tackles in 2016 and became the franchise's all-time leader in that category with 1,086 tackles while earning his second straight Pro Bowl appearance.
